2009 Documentary

“The War Zone” is the first “dual documentary” project of its kind and will be shot in Dec. 2009 by Stefan “Contreras” Lysenko’s team at Bliss Productions in association with Brown Berets Productions.

What is a “dual documentary” you ask?  Before this question can be answered we should first look at the traditional definition of a documentary film.

A documentary |?däky??ment?r?| can be an adjective: consisting of official pieces of written, printed, or other matter using pictures or interviews with people involved in real events to provide a factual record or report. Or it can be a noun: a movie or a television or radio program that provides a factual record or report.

A “dual documentary” refers to a two fold approach meaning that the subject will be documented by the documentarian and the documentarian will also be documented as he and his team go through their own transition while documenting the subject.  The goal is to not only document the key subject in a singular fashion.  The documenting of the documentarian in relation to the key subject is the other half of our ultimate goal.

The subject, which we will be documenting, will be the Latino gangs that make their home in “The War Zone” of Albuquerque New Mexico.  Stefan “Contreras” Lysenko, the director, along with his Bliss Production team, will focus on the gangs past and present situations along with possibilities for their future in New Mexico and abroad.
